The former monarchical residence built by King Louis XIV is situated 12 miles west of Paris. Versailles location is approximately 25 kilometers from the Center of Paris. One of the most easily accessible attraction of Paris that often welcomes thousands of visitors every day. There are a number of options to get to the Versailles location, depending upon your convenience you can choose the one that best fits you.
Getting to Versailles by train
1. Versailles Chantiers Train Station
You need to take a metro to “Gare Montparnasse” station and from there you have to walk a few meters to the train station “Gare Montparnasse” to get to the train. This train runs after every 15 minutes and reaches to “Gare de Versailles Chantiers” station in 12 minutes. From there it is only 20 minute’s walk to the Palace of Versailles. The walk is no doubt so fascinating and a pleasant way to have a glimpse of the area around the palace.
2. Versailles Château – Rive Gauche Train Station
Residents near Effiel Tower can get to the palace of Versailles very easily by RER C train. Travel in Paris to a metro station with an RER-C train connection. At the train station itself, you can easily and clearly buy tickets for the train to Versailles from a machine. Take the train to Versailles Château Rive-Gauche. Make sure to take trains “VITY” or “VICK”. They will drop you on 10 minute walk to the Palace.
3. Versailles Rive Droite Train Station
From Saint – Lazare in Paris the SNCF trains (Line L) will drop you at Versailles Rive Droite train station, from there it is a 17-minute walk to the palace.
Getting to Versailles by bus
Taking a bus to get to the Versailles location is also a good option. Take a RATP bus line #171 from “Pont de Sevres” station and it will drop you off within 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the traffic, at the palace of Versailles stop.
Getting to Versailles by taxi
A lot more expensive, but can be an easy and good option in some cases. The Uber taxi will cost around 25 € from the center of Paris and will take around 20 to 40 minutes depending on the traffic.
Getting to Versailles by car
If you want to go by car, it is good to know that there is a large paid parking lot, right in front of the palace. N118 is the quickest road to use to reach Versailles. To get to Pont de Sevres from the heart of Paris, use the D910 west along the Seine. You’ll be at your location in 40 minutes if you cross the bridge and follow the directions.
