Explore the parks of the Palace of Versailles

The park at Versailles ought to be mentioned as a unique location that amazes with its variety, beauty, and integrity. Additionally, there are swimming pools, greenhouses, botanical gardens, and fountains with incredible decorations and wonderful soundtracks. The flowers are collected in unusual flower beds, and the bushes are annually given certain forms. The Park, which spans an area of around 800 hectares and is encircled by a wall with gates, is divided into woodland regions and agricultural fields by straight roads. Although some land was lost during the Revolution and the 19th century, the Park’s perimeter still resembles what it did when it was first created, and it continues to encircle the Versailles estate with the richness of vegetation it has always known. Along with this two main water features makes this creation worth seeing.

The Grand Canal

It covers 24 hectares and is two meters wide, making it the largest pool in all of Versailles. The building was built by André Le Notre between 1666 and 1679, and since 1979, it has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with the other Gardens as well as the Palace.

The Lake of Swiss Guard

Since the southern section of the Versailles garden has a reputation for being particularly wet, this 13-acre pool, which derives its name from the Swiss Guard regiment, was dug between 1679 and 1682 and is a superb spot for trekking. Additionally, it marked the conclusion of the north-south axis that began with the Neptune Fountain. To the east, the Royal Vegetable Garden was built with some of the excavated earth. The area is now a wonderful location to unwind, with expansive lawns and broad walks lined with magnificent plane trees.
