Louis XVI of France and its history at Versailles

Louis XVI became king at a young age when he was just around twenty years old and was born in Versailles like his grandfather. One of the biggest occasions at Versailles in the late 18th century was his marriage to the Archduchess of Austria Marie-Antoinette in 1770, which was celebrated at the Royal Opera House. Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI were the last monarchs to reside in Versailles. He liked his wife so much that he gave his wife Petit Trianon, which was built by Louis XV. Marie Antoinette made many modifications, especially to the arboretum that eventually became known as the Hameau de la Reine.

Louis XVI, in contrast to his grandfather, spends most of his time at Versailles, where he has completed several interior works. King Louis XVI was always fascinated by the castle of Versailles. However, after his marriage to Maria Antoinette, he began to visit more often until he made the decision to rebuild it to adopt as his home. He brought a large number of workers to rebuild the palace. The new building was used by the royals for more than a century and became the cultural heritage of France. Louis XVI was responsible for which rivers and freshwater canals were diverted to accommodate the construction of the structure. The Palace of Versailles became the emblem of the leftist monarchy of Louis XVI. The king moved the capital of France to Versailles to rule from his grand palace.
